Fishing and crafts

Our fishing trip today was a lot of fun at times.  It holds some pretty specific memories, that’s for sure.  For starters, the place we went has NO BATHROOM, so when the 2-year old states she needs to go potty, well, there is only one place Smile .  I found a clean rock and sat her on it like a toilet seat…seemed to work pretty well.

Next, we got the fishing rods ready while Meghan ate some lunch and off to fishing we went.  Daddy decided to go out in the water and quickly found that the mud, was more like quick sand and became stuck.  Quite humorous, so we had to go retrieve his stuff so he could get himself unstuck.

Daddy did finally make it across to another part of the lake and found a few trout that were biting, but there was no way that Meghan and I were going in waist deep water (on daddy that is).  I cast Meghan’s fishing rod, and she practiced watching the bobber, but no bites were to be had for her. While she was fishing, she informed me that she was fishing for gooey fish.  I think she got that from Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, silly girl.  It was a fun day.

After nap time, Meghan made a paper-plate person (per her curriculum). This was the really fun part. Meghan informed me that this was her singing.

Just the little things…

Sometimes in life, it’s just the little things that can make a mama proud.  Due to starting our adventure, I have rearranged our toy room to accommodate some new furniture…

The end of our toy room tour.  It is all sectioned now and I am pleased with the outcome at this point.  It really is the little things in life that sometimes make a momma so happy.  It is funny though that while I have been rearranging and sorting, our daughter, Meghan, is finding “new” things and playing with them.  I am one proud and happy mommy.

Calendar helps

The calendar post put out by Mama’s learning corner, and shared by Free Homeschool Deals, was much appreciated.  I shared the link in Toddlers 2 Diplomas, and I would recommend it for any mom working with their little one on fine-motor skills, counting, or just about anything.  This is awesome.  Meghan loved being able to do something other than work on her day of the week and finding the right number to put on the calendar.

Here she found the day of the week, what tomorrow will be, the month, I assisted her in writing the year,  and we talked about what season it is. She then decided it is sunny outside and she is happy.

This was her attempt at writing her name.  I did not correct it, but rather just let her go.  I am interested to see how it develops throughout the year Smile.

I showed her how to trace the numbers, then she did the number 17.  I then asked her to find the 17 in the ice cream and she got it on her second time looking.  YAY Meghan!

I am so proud of my baby girl.  Hard to believe sometimes she is still only 2.  I think this year will be great and she will learn a lot.  As long as mommy can stick to a schedule and keep going, she will be a GREAT student.

Nothing New

Just another day in the Phillips household.  I have no new pictures for today’s blog, but I was able to find some new blogs to follow, place an order for some craft supplies Smile  and have some fun at the pool.  We are working on teaching Meghan to swim in her life preserver and build her confidence.

As I sit here typing, I love to listen to her imagination.  Yes, it is 9:25 pm and she is still, but when she does not have school the next day and I am a stay-at-home mom, it is the flexibility we have in our house.

Earlier this summer, our family became official, so for those that are just starting to follow, I will include a family photo of us.

Our Curriculum

I have decided this year to use the curriculum from www.preschoolpalace.org  I love the fact that as a new mom to homeschooling a preschooler, they give me the full curriculum, lesson plans, song ideas, themes, sensory ideas, crafts, and much more.  I am looking forward to sharing our ideas as we move forward with this.

New Happenings

Every weekend we try to do something fun with the kids that is not outrageous in price.  There are lots of fun and non-expensive things to do, but this weekend we decided to take them fishing.  Kylie, our oldest daughter, always has a good time. Tristan, our son,  is just learning, and our youngest daughter, Meghan, just went on her first trip with her own fishing pole.

She had so much fun just reeling it in and seeing if the  worm was still on the hook or not.  You can tell she’s not  focused on her line at all Smile.

Our little pro, who is able to cast and reel on her own.  She was attempting to find some catfish, but had no luck with that on this trip.

This was our latest purchase for our school journey.  It has a date inscribed on it of 1948, we think. After further examination, it might actually be 1943.

Do not know how well you can see it, but here is the date. There are also five different wads of gum under the left-hand side of the seat Smile with tongue out.

Just some of the interesting things we did this weekend on our new starts into blogging and school.  Thank you to Cindy for helping me start on this journey and for helping with my blogging Rolling on the floor laughing.

Inspiring starts to an amazing journey

Some may wonder why I am starting “so young” with my daughter, but after having the preschool experience while I worked in the City school system, she has loved school ever since.  We have neighbors who Homeschool, and when I told her she was not allowed to play with their kids because they were in school, she began asking if she could go to school. With not having the funds to put her back into school, due to not working at this time, I took this opportunity to start working with her on some preschool pages from a random book I had bought at Wal-mart.

This is a preview of what she started to do last year. We did shapes, colors, and some calendar time.  She enjoyed it so much, that it inspired me to do a full curriculum this year with her.

She did a great job organizing her shapes.

Loved sorting her colors.

She enjoyed every minute of this and has enjoyed getting supplies for this coming year. We can’t wait to get started, and share our discoveries with you.
